Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has underscored the vital role of government schools in the state’s development, asserting that Telangana’s future is intrinsically linked to the quality of education provided in its classrooms. His remarks came during the inauguration of a new building for the Kothakota Girls High School in Wanaparthy district on Wednesday.

The Chief Minister, who himself is a product of government schooling, encouraged students to pursue their studies diligently and aspire for prominent positions. He cited his own journey as an example, urging students to use it as a response to anyone questioning the potential of government school attendees.

Neglect of Education by Previous Government

Reddy criticized the previous administration for allegedly neglecting the education sector and failing to uphold the aspirations of Telangana martyrs. He affirmed the current Congress government’s commitment to realizing the vision of quality education and development opportunities for all segments of society. This commitment, he stated, aligns with fulfilling the sacrifices made for Telangana’s formation.

Strengthening Public Education System

The Chief Minister highlighted the government’s prioritization of public education, noting the appointment of senior officials to the Education department and the completion of long-pending teacher transfers and promotions. He attributed the past decline in government school enrollment to inadequate infrastructure and commended local MLA Madhusudhan Reddy for the improvements at the Kothakota school.

Call for Educational Advancement

Currently, Telangana ranks 18th in education nationally. Revanth Reddy called for concerted efforts from all stakeholders to elevate the state’s educational standing to among the top two in the country. He also announced that the distribution of Young India kits to 27.5 lakh beneficiaries would be completed by August 15.
