B Pharmacy Student Arrested in Hyderabad for Alleged Rape and Blackmail of Classmate

Medchal police have arrested a B Pharmacy student in Hyderabad on charges of allegedly sexually exploiting his classmate under the false promise of marriage and blackmailing her. The 20-year-old complainant approached Jawaharnagar police on May 28, accusing her classmate of forcing her to undress during a video call, taking screenshots, and later using these images for blackmail.

Incident Details

The complainant stated that the accused befriended her and became intimate, promising marriage. During their relationship, he allegedly coerced her into appearing nude during a video call and captured screenshots. When she decided to end the relationship, the accused reportedly contacted her brother, informed him about their relationship, and demanded Rs 3,000. When the brother refused, the accused allegedly sent him a nude photo of the complainant, threatening to circulate it among friends and family.

Police Investigation and Arrest

Based on the complaint, Jawaharnagar police registered a zero FIR and transferred the case to Medchal police, as the alleged offence occurred within Medchal jurisdiction. Medchal police subsequently registered a case against the accused on May 29 under Sections 64 (punishment for rape) and 69 (sexual intercourse by employing deceitful means) of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and proceeded with the arrest.

Questions on Evidence

Medchal Inspector A Satyanarayana stated that while the arrest was made based on the complaint, police have not yet found evidence supporting the allegation that the accused sent nude photos to the victim's brother. He mentioned that no such images were found on the phones of either party, which have been seized for forensic analysis. The complainant has undergone a medical examination, and the accused was produced before the court and remanded on Saturday.
