The Rajiv Aarogyasri Healthcare Trust (RAHCT) has confirmed that payments to government and private network hospitals under the Aarogyasri scheme have continued without any interruption, its chief executive officer said on Sunday.

CEO Jendage Hanumanth Kondiba stated that the trust has paid hospital claims worth ₹2,840 crore between December 8, 2023, and August 23, 2026. This translates to an average monthly payment of approximately ₹88 crore to hospitals empanelled under the scheme.

The clarification comes amid reports and allegations that hospitals were facing delays in receiving claim reimbursements under the state’s flagship health insurance programme.

Higher monthly payouts than previous period

Kondiba highlighted that the current monthly average of ₹88 crore is substantially higher than the period before December 2023, when claim payments averaged around ₹54 crore per month. The increase reflects both higher treatment coverage and revised package rates.

He rejected allegations that staff members of the Aarogyasri Trust had gone without salaries for 18 months. According to the CEO, employee salaries have been paid up to July 2026, and no salary dues are currently pending.

Expanded coverage and revised rates

The CEO also detailed key enhancements to the scheme since December 2023. Annual treatment coverage per family was increased from ₹5 lakh to ₹10 lakh. In 2024, package rates for 1,375 procedures were revised, with prices raised by nearly 22 percent. Additionally, 163 new treatments were added, bringing the total number of covered procedures to 1,835.

These changes were aimed at expanding access to cashless healthcare services for eligible beneficiaries across Telangana.

Datos clave

Metric Value
Total claims paid (Dec 2023 – Aug 2026) ₹2,840 crore
Average monthly payment (current) ₹88 crore
Average monthly payment (before Dec 2023) ₹54 crore
Annual coverage per family (since Dec 2023) ₹10 lakh

What this means for Hyderabad residents

For residents of Hyderabad and across Telangana, the trust’s clarification addresses concerns about the financial health of the Aarogyasri scheme. The programme provides cashless treatment for a wide range of medical procedures at network hospitals, and any disruption in payments could affect hospitals’ willingness to continue treating beneficiaries.

The increased coverage limit of ₹10 lakh per family and the addition of 163 new procedures mean that more treatments are now available without upfront payment. Patients and their families can continue to access care at empanelled hospitals without worrying about claim settlement delays, according to the trust.

Context and remaining questions

While the RAHCT has provided data on claim payments and salary disbursements, independent verification of these figures through official audit reports or state government announcements would offer additional reassurance. The trust’s statement does not address whether any individual hospital has experienced isolated delays in specific claim processing.

Beneficiaries who face issues with claim processing at network hospitals can approach the trust’s grievance mechanism for resolution. The scheme remains a critical safety net for low-income families in Hyderabad and across Telangana, covering everything from routine surgeries to complex medical treatments.
