Colleges in Hyderabad affiliated with Osmania University (OU) that offer Hotel Management and Culinary Arts programs have initiated a new outreach program named TEACH. This initiative, under the banner of the Telangana Association of Educators in Culinary and Hospitality (TEACH), aims to raise awareness about diverse career opportunities within the hospitality sector. The launch event specifically targeted students and parents, highlighting the employment prospects across various related industries.

The program was introduced on Wednesday, bringing together academicians, industry leaders, and hospitality professionals. The primary goal is to educate the community about the wide range of career paths available, not only in traditional hotels but also in tourism, aviation, cruise tourism, healthcare hospitality, and food service.

Addressing the Shortage of Skilled Professionals

Osmania University Vice-Chancellor Kumar Molugaram underscored the rewarding nature of hospitality education, asserting that it offers diverse opportunities comparable to any other professional field. He emphasized that OU has consistently updated its curriculum to align with global industry standards. This includes incorporating emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, sustainability practices, entrepreneurship modules, and comprehensive practical training. Molugaram advised students to opt for government-approved and OU-affiliated institutions to ensure quality education and recognized degrees.

Saka Sudha Kumar, president of TEACH, highlighted that the initiative seeks to bridge the existing awareness gap regarding hospitality careers. India currently faces a substantial shortage of trained hospitality professionals, creating significant career opportunities for graduates entering the sector. The TEACH initiative aims to guide aspiring students towards accredited institutions that can provide the necessary skills and qualifications.
