Five Injured in Raidurgam Knife Attack, Suspect Arrested

Five members of a family sustained injuries in a violent pre-dawn assault in Raidurgam, Hyderabad, on Friday. The incident occurred when a 22-year-old man, identified as K. Govardhan, allegedly broke into his former girlfriend’s residence and attacked her along with her parents, sister, and uncle. Raidurgam police swiftly responded, arresting Govardhan on charges of attempted murder.

The attack, which took place around 4 AM, stemmed from a relationship that had ended approximately a year ago. Police reports indicate that Govardhan, an unemployed youth, had been stalking and threatening his ex-girlfriend for months following the breakup.

According to investigators, Govardhan gained entry to the second-floor flat in Endla Basthi by climbing from an adjacent building. He reportedly slipped into the house when family members opened the kitchen door. The situation escalated rapidly as Govardhan allegedly held a knife to the throat of his ex-girlfriend’s elder sister.

When other family members attempted to intervene, Govardhan reportedly attacked them. The victims sustained injuries, primarily to their hands, during the struggle. The commotion attracted the attention of a relative living nearby, who rushed to assist. Govardhan also attacked this relative with the knife. Neighbors subsequently gathered, overpowered the assailant, and handed him over to the police.
