MLRIT hosts eighth edition of Model United Nations conference in Hyderabad

MLR Institute of Technology (MLRIT) organised the eighth edition of its Model United Nations (MUN) conference in Hyderabad on Friday, drawing more than 250 student delegates from across the country for a three-day programme focused on diplomacy, debate and international affairs.
Organised by Club Literati, the student-led literary and debate society of MLRIT, the conference provides a platform for young participants to engage with contemporary political, humanitarian and international security challenges. Delegates take on the roles of diplomats representing different countries, negotiating resolutions and building consensus through structured committee sessions.
Conference structure and participation
The eighth edition of the MLRIT MUN spans three days, with delegates assigned to various committees that simulate United Nations bodies. Participants are expected to research their assigned country’s立场, draft resolutions and engage in formal debate before arriving at consensus documents.
The conference aims to encourage delegates to explore diverse perspectives, engage in constructive dialogue and develop informed responses to complex global challenges. More than 250 students from different states are participating, making it one of the larger MUN events hosted by a private engineering college in the region.
Leadership perspectives on the event
MLRIT founder secretary and Malkajgiri MLA Marri Rajasekhar Reddy addressed the gathering, emphasising the importance of providing students with platforms that foster leadership, confidence and independent thinking. He noted that participation in such conferences helps students develop skills that go beyond the classroom.
MLRIT secretary Marri Anushreya Reddy highlighted the role of MUN in promoting meaningful dialogue, critical thinking and an appreciation of diverse viewpoints. She said the conference allows students to understand the complexities of international relations and the value of negotiation.
MLRIT vice chairman Marri Dhiren Reddy, director Dr V Radhika Devi and principal SVS Prasad also participated in the inaugural session.

Why this matters for Hyderabad students
For students in Hyderabad and across Telangana, MUN conferences offer a rare opportunity to develop public speaking, research and diplomatic skills outside the regular academic curriculum. These events are often stepping stones for students interested in careers in international relations, law, civil services or corporate leadership.
MLRIT’s decision to host a multi-day MUN with national participation also signals the growing interest among engineering institutions in integrating liberal arts and soft skills training into technical education. For parents and students evaluating colleges, the presence of active clubs like Club Literati and events like MUN can be an indicator of the institution’s commitment to holistic development.
For local students looking to participate in future editions, the conference also serves as a networking opportunity, connecting them with peers from other states who share similar interests in global affairs and debate.
