A 27-year-old software employee, Gandla Ramu, was discovered dead in a swimming pool at a farmhouse in Koyyalagudem, Choutuppal Mandal, Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri district, during an office team outing. The incident occurred on a Saturday night, and police have launched a murder investigation following a complaint from the victim’s father.

Incident Details

Gandla Ramu, originally from Mancherial, was attending a party with approximately 20 colleagues and their team leader. The gathering involved the consumption of liquor. According to initial police reports, a brief altercation reportedly occurred between Ramu and another employee during the party.

Several hours later, around 1 AM, Ramu was found unresponsive in the swimming pool. His colleagues attempted CPR and rushed him to a nearby government hospital in Choutuppal, where he was declared brought dead. Police were informed about the death around 2 AM by the hospital staff.

Police Investigation

Choutuppal Inspector N Manmadha Rao stated that a murder case has been registered based on the complaint filed by Ramu’s father, G Anjaiah. The father alleged that his son was assaulted with a stick after an altercation. However, police have not yet identified a suspect, noting that all 20 attendees were reportedly under the influence of alcohol.

Investigators have recovered Ramu’s ID card and mobile phone from the scene. No other items were seized. Police are currently questioning all individuals who attended the party to establish a clear sequence of events leading up to Ramu entering the pool. They also plan to contact the excise department to gather details regarding the liquor consumption at the farmhouse.
